Darkfever (Fever Series, Book 1)

Darkfever (Fever #1) - Karen Marie Moning "“The moment I laid eyes on you, I knew you were trouble.""Ditto.""I wanted to drag you between the shelves, fuck you senseless, and send you home.""If you'd done that, I never would have left.""You're still here anyway.""You don't have to sound so sour about it.""You're upsetting my entire existence.""Fine, I'll leave.""Try and I'll chain you up.”"Because this is not a book and its sequels but one story cut in five parts, I’m going to kill five birds with one stone, and write one review for the whole series. Before this reading, I already read the series twice and listened to the audio books once. I knew that the books end with cliffhangers so I waited the release of Shadowfever to read them. I LOVE LOVE LOVED the first reading. Since in this story nothing and no one is what it/one seems, the second reading brought a new light to some parts/dialogs/characters. The third one didn’t diminish my pleasure. I particularly loved listening to Dreamfever and Shadowfever because Phil Gigante *swoon* is playing the male characters parts. KMM created a rich and captivating mythology/world with complex characters. Don’t expect sparkling little fairies, this story is a dark one. KMM will take you for a wild ride, with LOTS of twist and turns.Though it was not my case, I understand why some may find the first book slow. In many ways it can be seen as an introduction to the rest of the story, but not only do I love beginnings but one of the things I loved so much in this series is how Mac evolved from Mac 1.0 to Mac 5.0. I read a LOT of PRN or romance books and this is the only series where the MC actually evolve, and it was a fascinating thing to witness. Another thing that I loved about Mac is that even when she was simply the clueless “barbie girl” grieving for her sister, she stood her ground and took the right decisions when she was facing the top dogs in her game. And Barrons... *sigh**pant**drool**swoon*..., I love a lot of heroes from many books and differents authors, and I LOVE the MacKeltars but with Barrons KMM just brought a new definition to the alpha hero concept. Barrons is definitely the top dog to top all the badasses. I also loved what KMM revealed and didn’t reveal about him.At the end of Shadowfever we have some answers but unfortunately other questions were raised during the story and were left without answers. For our greatest pleasure KMM is currently writing a trilogy featuring Dani, Christian MacKeltar (I soooo want to know what will happen to him), Ryodan and the mysterious “dancer”. She also agreed to write two more books once the trilogy is completed and will resume writing about Mac, Barrons, V’lane, Cruce the Unseelie King (I LOVE this character!), the concubine, the Song of Making. I JUST CAN’T WAIT!He’d loved her for all time. Before she was made. After he’d believed she was gone.Sunshine to his ice. Frost to her fever.
